Get ready to witness the skies above New Orleans light up with adrenaline-fueled action as the Red Bull Terminal Takeover returns to the old Louis Armstrong New Orleans International Airport terminal for its fourth consecutive year. This groundbreaking event is set to transform the abandoned terminal into the ultimate playground for park and street skateboarding enthusiasts from April 19th to April 20th.
What began as a bold initiative to repurpose an unused airport terminal has evolved into a globally renowned spectacle, attracting skate crews from all corners of the United States and beyond. This year, the competition reaches new heights with the inclusion of 11 crews hailing from as far as Japan, marking the first international competitors in the event’s history.
The stage is set for a showdown unlike any other, as vacant concourses undergo a remarkable metamorphosis into skate runways and old benches receive a complete upgrade, serving as prime spots for jaw-dropping tricks and maneuvers.
Teams representing their local skate shops from cities such as Nashville, Pensacola, Fairfax, and Durham, among others, have earned their spots through rigorous qualification rounds in the Red Bull Boarding Pass competition.
Adding to the excitement, this year’s event boasts the largest gathering of professional skateboarders ever seen at the MSY Terminal. Skateboarding icons including Jake Wooten, Zion Wright, Madars Apse, CJ Collins, Gavin Bottger, and Margie Didal will grace the ramps alongside amateur crews, igniting the atmosphere with their unparalleled skill and expertise.
In addition to showcasing their talents in the film competition, pros and amateurs alike will engage in exhilarating “spot battles,” challenging each other in feats of aerial prowess and technical finesse. From soaring wall jumps to gravity-defying slides across the airport’s pristine marble flooring, every battle promises to push the limits of creativity and athleticism.
Fans around the globe will have the opportunity to play a pivotal role in determining the ultimate victor, as each team submits a video compilation of their airport exploits for a public vote.
The action-packed weekend kicks off on Friday, April 19th, with media access beginning at 10:00 AM and skaters taking over the terminal until 5:00 PM. Saturday, April 20th, promises even more thrills, with the terminal opening to media at 9:00 AM and skaters showcasing their skills until 5:30 PM, culminating in the highly anticipated spot battles between pros and amateurs.
