Recording Academy and Amazon Music offer scholarships to students at historically black colleges

For a second year, the Recording Academy’s Black Music Collective (BMC) and Amazon Music have collaborated to provide a scholarship opportunity for students at historically Black colleges and universities (HBCU) who represent the next generation of music industry power players.

Four students enrolled at an HBCU will be awarded $10,000 each and have the unique opportunity to participate in an immersive rotational program with Amazon Music and Recording Academy department leads. In addition, the BMC and Amazon Music will award two HBCUs $10,000 grants each for equipment for their music programs.

Applications for the Your Future Is Now Scholarship Program must be submitted by June 10, 2022, to be considered. Applicants must be U.S. citizens or permanent residents; currently enrolled at an HBCU and in good standing; planning to attain a bachelor’s degree in music, music business, business administration, marketing, communications, or a related field of study; and have a minimum cumulative grade point average of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale (or its equivalent).

The Recording Academy’s BMC and GRAMMY U will be hosting several conversations to share more about this opportunity and inspiring stories from past winners.

The Recording Academy’s Black Music Collective is an advisory group of music industry leaders who will speak openly about new and emerging opportunities in Black music and identify ways to drive Black representation. It is a hub for power players in Black music, across all genres, all under the Grammy roof, bringing together creators and business leaders to set unified goals, align on a shared agenda and build community. is a group of prominent Black music creators and professionals who share the common goal of amplifying Black voices within the Academy and the music community.
