More than 30 vendors will display LPs, 45s, CDs and cassettes representing all types of music for sale at Record Raid, the largest record show in New Orleans, set for Saturday, January 22, at The Howlin’ Wolf .
Admission is $5 for early arrivals at 10 a.m. and free to all after 11 a.m. till the show’s closing at 5 p.m. Throughout the day, DJs will be spinning turntables, playing out some of the greatest music recordings of all time ranging from rock to blues, R&B, country and more.
Vendors include record stores, private collectors and people cleaning out their private collections. The music ranges from recently released to vintage.
Record Raid began in 2010 as a spin off from the WTUL Record Fair. Its creator, Hunter King, enlists the help of local music historians, including blues authority Terry Pattison and soul specialist Brian Poust.
Area record stores also participate. Before opening brick-and-mortar operations, several local record stores began as Record Raid vendors, including Disko Obscura, Nola Mix, Lafayette’s Lagniappe Records, and Euclid Records. Today, the show has grown to include vendors from other states, such as Keith Glass, founder of Mobile Records in Mobile, Alabama.
The City of New Orleans mandates that entry into indoor events is contingent upon a proof of vaccination or a PCR test administered within 72 hours. Masks must be worn while indoors.
The Howlin’ Wolf is located at 907 S Peters Street in the Warehouse District. For more information about Record Raid, visit here.
