Rebirth Brass Band graced the stage of the Harvest the Music series at Lafayette Square last Wednesday afternoon, and photographer Kim Welsh was on hand to catch the action on stage. The weekly free music series runs through November 3, every Wednesday starting at 5 p.m. Tonight, the series features the rare treat of a free Dr. John show, and still to come in following weeks are Kermit Ruffins, the Radiators, Dumpstaphunk with Good Enough for the Good Times, and a closing all-star night of local legends featuring Allen Toussaint, Nicholas Payton, and the trio of Joe Krown, Walter “Wolfman” Washington and Russell Batiste.
All proceeds from food and drink sales at the concerts go to the Second Harvest Food Bank of Greater New Orleans and Acadiana and its mission of fighting hunger across south Louisiana. Food vendors include Rouses, Lucy’s, Crêpes a la Cart, Miss Linda’s Soul Food, Lil’ Dizzy’s, Beaucoup NOLA Snoballs, Oceana Grill, Squeal Bar-B-Q. and Lafayette Square neighbor Capdeville. There are also art vendors at the shows, including Arts Kinetic, NOLA Couture, UP/Unique Products, Sabai Jewelry, Golden Wagon, Le Jardin, Jane Brewster, and Divine Designs.
