Ella Mai’s “Heart on My Sleeve” tour is set to take over the Joy Theater on April 27 at 8 p.m. Mai’s rise to fame began in 2014 when she was studying at London’s British and Irish Modern Music Institute. After auditioning for The X Factor as part of a trio, Mai released a solo EP called Troubled on SoundCloud in 2015. It wasn’t long before she caught the attention of American record producer DJ Mustard, who signed her to his label, 10 Summers Records.
Since then, Mai has released three EPs and her self-titled debut studio album, which featured the popular singles “Boo’d Up” and “Trip.” The former track was nominated for two Grammy Awards, winning Best R&B Song.
Ella Mai has a successful track record of headlining tours since 2018. Her first tour, the “Boo’d Up” tour, was followed by her joining Bruno Mars on the “24k Magic” world tour in 2018. After releasing her debut album, she launched “The Debut Tour” in 2019 and opened for Ariana Grande on the “Sweetener” world tour later that year. In 2022, following the release of her sophomore album, Heart on My Sleeve, she joined Mary J. Blige on the “Good Morning Gorgeous” tour.
The “Heart On My Sleeve” tour kicked off on March 31 in Connecticut and includes stops in 34 cities across the US, with the tour concluding in Toronto. Ella will also perform in major cities like Los Angeles, New York, and Atlanta.
