The Roots drummer Questlove will bring his DJ set to New Orleans on Friday, October 28 when he plays a late-night (1am) set at Tipitina’s. Local favorite DJ Soul Sister will support.
The show, which technically takes place during the early morning hours of Saturday, October 29, will follow a concert by The Jayhawks, but will be its own ticketed event. It will also act as an unofficial after party for Voodoo Fest, which kicks off on the 28th.
Questlove is best known for his work with hip-hop/rock outfit The Roots, who currently serve as the house band for The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon. However, the drummer is also an accomplished DJ, and his Thursday night “Bowl Train” residency has been a popular event at New York City’s Brooklyn Bowl for a number of years. He last performed in New Orleans during this year’s Jazz Fest, when The Roots played a concert at the Orpheum Theater.
Tickets for the DJ ?uestlove show at Tipitina’s will go on sale this Friday, September 23 at 10am.
