Last week we reported that superstar electronic artist Pretty Lights (aka Derek Vincent Smith) had hinted at a New Year’s Eve show in New Orleans. While the announcement included no information about exact dates or locations, it was clear that the Crescent City would be the site of the show.
It looks like full confirmation of the event–or should we say, events–came today in the form of a post on Pretty Lights’ Facebook page. A newly posted image has revealed that Smith will bring his Live Band to the Mardi Gras World Ballroom on December 30 AND 31.
Pre-sale tickets will go on sale at 1pm today, while general public tickets will be available at 10am on Wednesday, September 7.
The Pretty Lights Live Band last performed in New Orleans back in March when they headlined the Buku Music + Arts Project, which also takes place at Mardi Gras World. That stopover featured a set at the festival proper, a late night after show at the Joy Theater with the Preservation Hall Horns and an unannounced set under the downtown I-10 overpass. Past incarnations of the Pretty Lights Live Band have included drummer Adam Deitch, keyboardist Brian Coogan, keyboardist Borahm Lee, trombonist Scott Flynn and trumpeter Eric Bloom.
In related news, Pretty Lights isn’t the only big name out-of-town performer that will host a gig in New Orleans this New Year’s Eve. Comedian Amy Schumer is slated to bring her set to the Smoothie King Center the same night.
