The Acadiana Center for the Arts will present a special night of zydeco music with Preston Frank and the Frank Family Band on Thursday, April 6. Considered one of the pioneers of zydeco, Preston Frank and his band have performed Creole music for decades and are known for their deep roots in rural Soileau, where Frank grew up.
Throughout the night, Frank and moderator Roddie Romero will discuss his influence and history with Zydeco, while the Frank Family Band will join him on stage. The family band was formed in 1977 and has recorded for labels like Arhoolie and Lanor. Over time, the group’s ranks grew to include Frank’s children Keith (guitar), Brad (drums), and Jennifer (bass), as well as past members Carlton Frank and Hamilton Frank.
Zydeco fans from all over the region will likely attend, and tickets are available online now. Founded in 1975, the Acadiana Center for the Arts is a community-supported regional arts council that fosters art and culture in South Louisiana. The center aims to ensure that this living culture flourishes for generations, focusing on bringing equitable access to the arts through intensive residency work in schools and supporting fair compensation of artists. On average, the Acadiana Center for the Arts serves over 300,000 people annually and provides fair compensation to 2,700 artists.
