Preservation Hall presents ‘Round Midnight Preserves livestream concerts

As fans await the return of live music at Preservation Hall, the venerable jazz institution will present ‘Round Midnight Preserves 2021, a free, two-night livestream concert, that will serve as a fundraiser. The Preservation Hall Jazz Band will be joined by Ivan Neville along with Durand Jones and the Indications.

Son of the great soul singer Aaron Neville, Ivan Neville is an accomplished multi-instrumentalist, songwriter, and singer. He has played with the likes of the Neville Brothers, The Rolling Stones, Bonnie Raitt and Paula Abdul, as well as leads his own band Dumpstaphunk.

Durand Jones and the Indications, helmed by vocalist Durand Jones and drummer Aaron Frazer, conjure the dynamism of Jackie Wilson, Curtis Mayfield, and the Impressions.

The livestream performance will be free to view, however donations made during both streams will support the Preservation Hall Foundation’s efforts to protect, preserve, and perpetuate New Orleans music, foster music education opportunities for teachers and students, and continue to provide emergency financial relief to Preservation Hall’s 60-member musical collective.

In 2020, Preservation Hall held its first iteration of the ‘Round Midnight Preserves livestream. Hosted by Preservation Hall’s creative director Ben Jaffe and directed by longtime Hall collaborator Danny Clinch, the 2020 broadcast featured unseen archival collaborations with the Preservation Hall Jazz Band, as well as new performances from special guests, including Paul McCartney, Dave Grohl, Irma Thomas, Dave Matthews, Jon Batiste, Jim James, PJ Morton, Nathaniel Rateliff, and others.

‘Round Midnight Preserves will be broadcast at 9 p.m. CDT on Friday, April 30, and Saturday, May 1. Set a reminder and watch the stream live at twitch.tv/therelixchannel or on OffBeat’s Facebook page.
