On March 3, the sixth annual Pisces Party – a celebration in honor of those born under the zodiac’s fish sign – will be held at Blue Nile (appropriately enough), featuring live music, food from local restaurants, and pinata bashing.
The event will be MC’d by Deborah Vidacovich, Director of Tipitina’s Kids Music Workshop and wife of drummer Johnny Vidacovich.
Doors open at 8 p.m., and music will kick off with a set by DJ Black Pearl. Next up will be a short set and spiritual blessing by vocal group the Yemayayas, followed by funk/rock/blues act “West Bank” Mike Doussan’s musical tribute to his brother Brett Doussan.
The musical centerpiece of the evening will be an all-star, all-Pisces band called Los Pescados and featuring Sam Price, Eric Bolivar, Raphael Bas, Randy Ellis, Greg Hicks, Luke Huddleston, Alexandra Scott, Kristina Morales, Lucas Davenport, Jeff Guitar Nelson, and many others.
The King of Pisces Party 2015 and musical headliner will be Alvin Youngblood Hart.
Food will be donated by Cochon Butcher, Milkfish, The Joint, Mo Pho, and L’Enfant Terrible.
As with every year, proceeds will be donated to a local non-profit organization.
This year’s beneficiary will be the Brett Thomas Doussan Foundation, which raises awareness about mental health programs and provides musical therapy in the New Orleans area.
This year, the New Orleans Barman’s Fund will join forces with the Pisces Party and donate 50% of proceeds from their March events to the foundation.
