St. Patty’s Day is coming up and, like each year, festivities have started early with parades and block parties throughout the weekend.
After Friday’s parade in the French Quarter, the Irish Channel was taken over by a wave of green clothing and Irish extravaganza. The parade started at St. Mary’s Assumption Church and worked its way through the Irish Channel via Magazine Street.
An old New Orleans tradition, this year’s celebration marked the 66th Annual Mass and Parade, historically put on by The Irish Channel St. Patrick’s Day Club.
The Downtown Irish Club Parade will take place on Thursday, March 17, beginning at 6:00 p.m. on the corner of Burgundy and Piety in the Bywater.
