Satchmo SummerFest took over Jackson Square for the first time since its inception in 2001 (past editions have taken place at the Old. U.S. Mint). The annual celebration of Louis Armstrong’s birthday and musical legacy brought a brass-heavy lineup to the iconic French Quarter park, where thousands gathered to revel in the music.
Charmaine Neville, Brass-A-Holics, Big Sam’s Funky Nation, Victor Goines, The Soul Rebels, Dirty Dozen Brass Band, Treme Brass Band, Yoshio & Keiko Toyama, Meschiya Lake & the Little Big Horns, Steve Pistorius and many more were among the artists that performed at the festival, which closed out with a James Andrews-led tribute to Armstrong.
