Last weekend (November 8-9), the Rebirth Brass Band and the New Orleans Suspects blew into Washington D.C. for a sold-out two night stand at the Hamilton. The packed club got just what is was there for: smoking funk and R&B from the Suspects and one of the greatest party bands on any stand with Rebirth. On Saturday, the Suspects rolled through an hour set of originals and standards like “Blackbird Special” and “Hey Pocky Way” with a deep New Orleans groove that got the early crowd on its feet. Rebirth kept the party going. The floor was packed, everyone sung, and the club came alive. Folks danced on the stage nearly the entire show, and the energy lasted all night.
