Alaska natives Portugal. The Man rolled through New Orleans last night for a set at the Joy Theater. The group delivered a jammed out, career-spanning set that, nevertheless, leaned heavily on their latest album, 2013’s Evil Friends. Fan favorites like “People Say” and “Atomic Man” got their due, along with a pair of cover/original hybrids that combined Pink Floyd’s “Another Brick In The Wall Part 2” with “Purple, Yellow, Black and Blue” and Always Sunny in Philadelphia classic “Day Man” with “Evil Friends.” Interestingly, the band also played two renditions of their 2017 single “Feel It Still”—once during the main set and again during the encore.
Beyond the recent single, last night’s set was short on new material. However, the band did allude to a forthcoming album when they told the crowd that a lot of new material was on the way.
Caitlyn Ridenour was on hand to capture some photos of the show.
