Indie-pop lunatics Of Montreal brought their psychedelic, costume-heavy act to the Howlin’ Wolf on Wednesday night, marking the end of the second national tour in support of their latest album Aureate Gloom. The performance, which was sufficiently insane by Of Montreal standards, featured a little bit of new material, along with plenty of songs from 2007’s Hissing Fauna, Are You The Destroyer? and 2008’s Skeletal Lamping.
The show opened with a performance from Diane Coffee, a group that features members from psych-rock outfit Foxygen. Photographer Marissa Altazan was present to immortalize the night.
“We’ve played [New Orleans] many times now and we always have a great experience,” bandleader Kevin Barnes told OffBeat. “The audiences are always really fun. It’s perfect because it’s the last of the tour so it’s a great way to wrap things up.”
