With the Atlantic Ocean on one side and Pamlico Sound on the other, the Outer Banks of North Carolina in October are a beautiful place to be this time of year. The third installment of the Mustang Music Festival made it even better with sets from New Orleans’ own Bonerama and George Porter Jr. and Runnin’ Pardners in support of Orgone and Karl Denson’s Tiny Universe. The festival was very relaxed and the bands were crushing. Highlights included Orgone guitar player Sergio Rios saying “It’s not everyday that you get to play on the same stage as your idol, but if it weren’t for George Porter Jr. and the Meters, Orgone would not exist”, just before Orgone played Ain’t No Use for their encore. The fest’s biggest moment came when Karl Denson invited Bonerama up on stage with them, whipping everyone into a frenzy for close to half an hour.
