Krewe of O.A.K. brought winter’s Mardi Gras vibe to Uptown’s summer streets on Saturday night. It was the 30th annual edition of Mid-Summer Mardi Gras, and new carnival favorites like the Krewe of Chewbacchus and the Organ Grinders were on hand to celebrate this three decades-old tradition.
The theme for this year was “Get Wet,” a double entendre that can be interpreted in ways that are both tame and not so tame. Musician Jamie Bernstein reigned as King Robustus XXX, while Cara-Mia Noto, manager of Oak Street staple Jacques-Imo’s, reigned as Queen.
