After 33 years in California, Leo Nocentelli celebrated his return to his hometown of New Orleans with a star-studded party at Tiptina’s last night. Hosted by WWL-TV’s Eric Paulsen, the show saw the Meters guitarist team up with Irma Thomas, Cyril Neville, Big Chief Donald Harrison, John “Papa” Gros, Tony Hall, CR Gruver, David Torkanowsky, Big Chief Alfred Doucette, the Soul Rebels, Raymond Weber, Big Sam and more for a series of one-of-a-kind performances. The night also featured brief sets from Sharon Martin, Michael “Soulman” Baptiste, Deacon John, the Joe Krown Trio (Krown, Walter “Wolfman” Washington and Russel Batiste) and members of The Revivalists, among others.
Jeffrey Dupuis was on hand to capture some exciting shots of last night’s festivities.
