Photos: Krewe du Vieux and krewedelusion Keep It Sassy

Carnival season is in full swing now that Krewe du Vieux and krewdelusion have rolled through the Marigny, French Quarter and CBD. Krewe du Vieux, in particular, had its irreverent sights set on Donald Trump, with at least half of the krewe’s floats making light of the new president on Saturday night. Krewedelusion was a bit less political, with marching krewes like the King James: Super Bad Sex Machine Strollers (who counted bass legend Christian McBride as their honorary king) paying tribute to icons like James Brown.

Kim Welsh was on hand to capture some photos of the party, which traditionally acts as the first major parade of the Mardi Gras season.
