The Krewe de Jeanne d’Arc helped kick off Mardi Gras 2015 with a parade through the French Quarter on the evening of January 6.
Twelfth Night, or the Feast of the Epiphany, traditionally starts Mardi Gras in New Orleans on January 6. It’s also the birthday of Saint Joan of Arc, the patron saint of New Orleans, so of course a parade has to happen.
Dozens of marchers processed through the streets of the French Quarter wearing a mix of traditional clothing and some off the wall Carnival creations.
Happy Birthday Joan of Arc, and Happy Mardi Gras!
