George Porter Jr. and His Runnin’ Pardners started a mini tour of the northeast at the Hamilton in Washington, DC, on September 17.
The band drove out of New Orleans at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday night, getting to DC for a quick half hour at their hotel on late Wednesday afternoon before beating it down to the Hamilton for a two hour plus set of tail waggin’ funk.
They didn’t seem tired for a minute as they poured all they had into a set that had a solid Wednesday night crowd up and dancing all night long.
Opening the night was former Dirty Dozen Brass Band guitarist Jamie McLean, who was reunited with bass player Ben Mars and drummer Brian Griffin, sounding like they were never apart
The band played a strong set of rock-n-roll and blues, paying homage to McLean’s New Orleans musical roots.
