Photos: First Cigar Box Guitar Festival

The Frenchmen Theater was host to the first edition of the Cigar Box Guitar Festival, the three-day event took place on January 14 through 17.

Kim Welsh captured some photos from the festival, which included sets from the New Orleans Swinging Gypsies, Stacy Mitchhart Band and Shane Speal’s Snake Oil Band, April Mae & the June Bugs, Jim Connor and many more.

Aside from live music, the festival featured presentations on the history of cigar box guitars, handmade instrument contest, instrument demonstrations, a cigar box guitar building workshop, as well as a screening of cigar box guitar documentary “Strung Together.”
