The Black Men of Labor celebrated their 27th annual Living Celebration at the Mahalia Jackson Theater for the Performing arts in New Orleans on Sunday, October 23, 2022.
The celebration was themed: “From Isolation to Celebration,” and honored the people lost to the victims of the COVID-19 epidemic. The event featured a funeral procession, prayers, gospel choirs and as well as many music performances from artists the likes of Deacon John, Michael Ward, Dr. Michael White and the Treme Brass Band.
The Black Men of Labor is a social aid and pleasure club that was founded in 1993 by Benny Jones, Sr., Gregory Stafford and Fred J. Johnson, Jr., and is today one of the most prestigious and a centerpiece of New Orleans culture.
