Alabama Shakes headlined New Orleans’ Champions Square in front of a substantial crowd on Thursday, September 22. The glistening lights of the Mercedes-Benz Superdome never came close to outshining frontwoman Brittany Howard, whose fiercely emotional delivery sent shockwave after shockwave through the audience. British R&B singer Corinne Bailey Rae, who spoke to OffBeat for our September issue, was on hand to open the show.
