The 2016 Carnival season started on Wednesday, January 6, when the Krewe de Jeanne d’Arc paraded through the French Quarter on Joan of Arc’s birthday.
Photographer Kim Welsh was there to immortalize the 8th annual Joan of Arc’s parade, on Twelfth Night.
Reigning as Queen Yolande of Aragon was Sandra Savoye Dartus, Partnership Liason for Festigals, Inc and original Executive Director of French Quarter Festivals, Inc. Eric Belin, President of the French American Chamber of Commerce, presided as King Charles VII. Benjamin Franklin Student Council President Margaux Schexnider was the parade’s Maid of Honor, taking up the role of Jeanne d’Arc, the Maid of Orleans.
