Some of New Orleans finest joined some of the biggest names in the music business at the 2015 Lockn’ Festival in Arrington Virginia. Trombone Shorty and Orleans Avenue and Anders Osborne joined a stellar lineup that also included Robert Plant, Carlos Santana, Jimmy Cliff, Widespread Panic, Phil Lesh, Bob Weir, Dave Mason, Leon Russell, Tedeschi Trucks Band and many, many more.

Other New Orleans musicians on the bill were Jason Mingledorff, playing sax with St. Paul and the Broken Bones, Chris Mule from Honey Island Swamp Band playing with Karl Denson and Chuck Leavell, Ian Neville playing with Slightly Stoopid, Ivan Neville playing with Trombone Shorty and Shannon McNally joining the chorus for the festival’s highlight set “Mad Dogs and Englishmen with the Tedeschi Trucks Band and Special Friends.” Another of those special friends was Anders Osborne, who after playing a crowd slaying set with his own band, joined Derek Trucks, Warren Haynes and Dave Mason to help recreate Joe Cocker’s seminal 1970 album “Mad Dogs and Englishmen” on the songs “She Came in Through the Bathroom Window” and “Feelin’ All Right”.

Galactic’s set, scheduled for the festival’s opening night was canceled with the entire Thursday lineup, due to a terrible storm late on Wednesday night which tore up part of the festival grounds. Nobody was hurt and the Lockn’ team did a remarkable job getting the grounds ready for the expected 35,000+ fans. Trombone Shorty, Anders Osborne and St. Paul and the Broken Bones all turned in unforgettable sets that generated some of the biggest buzz running around the festival
