Parkway Bakery will construct and serve 300-foot long po-boy as fundraiser

Parkway Bakery will construct and serve a 300-foot-long barbecued Chisesi sausage po-boy on Tuesday, March 29, as a fundraiser for Hogs for the Cause. The mammoth sandwich will be layered between loaves of Leidenheimer French bread and built outdoors on picnic tables behind the restaurant, located at 538 Hagan Avenue.

The event will take place from 5-7 p.m. Tickets are $40 (children under age 10 are admitted for free) and provide access to additional items, including Yuengling Flight beer, Deep Eddy frozen vodka lemonades, Coca-Cola products, Snowballs from Olde Tyme Grocery, jambalaya from Jambalaya Girl, and gifts from Tabasco, and a raffle ticket at the door for a chance to win the first party in Parkway Bakery’s new dining room that is currently under construction.

Hogs for Cause is an annual barbecue and music festival that raises charitable funds for families of children afflicted by pediatric brain cancer. Festival organizers work with both local and national children’s hospitals, including Children’s Hospital of New Orleans, Ochsner Hospital for Children, Duke Children’s Hospital, Medical University of South Carolina (MUSC) Children’s Hospital, Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta at Scottish Rite, and Children’s Hospital of San Antonio, to offer monetary relief to families with children who have brain cancer.
