OneBeat, a music diplomacy program, announced its fifth nationwide tour, beginning in Florida on September 10 and ending in Chicago on October 11. It will be stopping in New Orleans at the end of this month.
OneBeat is an initiative of the U.S. Department of State’s Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs and produced by Bang on a Can’s Found Sound Nation. The tour consists of 25 musicians from all over gathering to perform and lead workshops around the country.
Here in New Orleans, in partnership with Ace Hotel, OneBeat is looking to collaborate with youth music programs from Silence is Violence, Make Music NOLA, Harmony Neighborhood Development, and Harmony Oaks Community Center to create original music.
During the tour, OneBeat will have performances at not only Ace Hotel, but also the brand-new Music Box village by New Orleans Airlift.
OneBeat fellows will perform original works led by New Orleans swamp-pop legend Quintron, and other musicians, including OneBeat alumna Aurora Nealand.
