The New Orleans music documentary feature One Note at a Time, which shared stories of musicians facing misfortune after Hurricane Katrina, will have virtual screenings on August 29 and 30 in acknowledgment of the 15th anniversary of the storm.
Presented by Food Film Music, the virtual cinema events will include live Q&As airing online at 2 p.m. Central. Participants including director Renee Edwards, New Orleans Musicians’ Clinic’s Bethany Bultman and musician Chip Wilson will discuss not only the film’s significance but likely how the devastation of Hurricane Katrina compares to the harsh realities New Orleans musicians are currently facing during the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.
One Note at a Time is an award-winning film featuring performances and interviews with the likes of Dr. John, Irma Thomas, Kermit Ruffins, Ben Jaffe and more. Prominent focus in the film is placed on the role the New Orleans Musicians’ Clinic played in providing aid to local musicians then — something the organization continues to provide now.
The film will be available for online viewing for 48 hours at this link. Tickets are $9.99 and ten per cent of proceeds will go towards the New Orleans Musicians’ Clinic and Assistance Foundation.
During the online streaming event, a companion piece in the form of a short film titled 15 Years Down the Road and featuring never-before-seen footage from inside the Superdome after the storm as well as appearances from Defleayo Marsalis, Felice Guimont and Cliff Hines, will debut.
