On Air Fest convenes podcasters, audio professionals and fans

The annual On Air Fest, the premiere annual event for podcasters, brings together an expansive range of emerging and established voices to explore the creative possibilities of sound. Now in its fifth year and sponsored by WORK X WORK, a full-service creative agency in New York, the festival will be streamed live from April 8-10.

On Air Fest is a powerful networking and learning opportunity built for people invested in the future of audio and includes podcast industry insiders, creative audio professionals, artists, musicians, multimedia storytellers, listeners and fans. Registration is free and open to all.

“This year’s On Air Fest will be an inspiring, healing, and purposeful gathering for a global community of creators and listeners,” said Scott Newman, founder and creative director of Work x Work. “Our goal is to create a magical space where inspiring storytellers, thinkers, and artists can help make sense of this moment.”

The event will open with Nick Quah’s Hot Pod Live industry sessions and town hall. Highlights of the schedule include live episodes of Sonos Radio’s Object of Sound with host Hanif Abdurraqib interviewing Rhiannon Giddens and Hrishkesh Hirway;  Code Switch hosts Shereen Marisol Meraji and Gene Demby discussing the process of producing their show; New York Times columnist Roxane Gay; a conversation with Ben Folds and Drunk History creator Derek Waters; performances and conversations with Asia Victoria, Open Mike Eagle, and mxmtoon; a live episode of Switched on Pop; former The Nod hosts/co-creators Brittany Luse and Eric Eddings hosting the Saturday sessions; Broccoli Productions CEO Renay Richardson discussing diversity; the presentation of the second annual On Air Fest Audio Vanguard Award, emceed by Terry Gross of NPR; a performance by Yo-Yo Ma; and a Talkhouse Podcast session.

In addition, the festival will present “Official Selects,” a showcase for experimental creative short-form audio.

Throughout the year, On Air Fest produces a range of cultural programming, from annex events, to a residency program, creative collaborations,  a newsletter and podcasts.
