On Friday, November 8 at 9 p.m., Beausoleil, led by Grammy-winning fiddler Michael Doucet, is celebrating 50 years of delivering infectious Cajun music to audiences worldwide. Doucet and his band are instrumental in popularizing Cajun music beyond Louisiana, blending traditional sounds with zydeco, blues and jazz. Known for their lively performances, Beausoleil’s music is a joyful exploration of Cajun heritage. Treme Creole Gumbo Festival 2014

The Tremé Creole Gumbo Festival takes place at Louis Armstrong Park on Saturday and Sunday, Nov. 9–10, with free admission, family fun and a live music daily. Saturday features performances from Da Truth Brass Band, Kelly Love Jones, Treme Brass Band, Tonya Boyd-Cannon, and Brass-A-Holics, while Sunday showcases Knockaz Brass Band, Naydja CoJoe & the Lagniappe Section, DJ Raj Smoove & Friends, Charmaine Neville Band and The Soul Rebels.
