From June 21-23, at 8 p.m., the Marigny Opera House will be the site of a poignant and powerful performance by the Mélange Dance Company. “The UpStairs Lounge” commemorates the 51st anniversary of the tragic arson that claimed 32 lives at the UpStairs Lounge, a safe haven for the gay community in 1970s New Orleans. Through dynamic choreography, theatrical storytelling, and live music, the performance honors the memories of those lost and celebrates the vibrant community that thrived there.
