On Friday, August 9, start your night with at the Audubon Cool Zoo, Sip+Dip: R&B Night, from 6:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. The event is part of a limited series, each with a unique theme, and provides exclusive adults-only access to Cool Zoo, including the 750-foot lazy river, Gator Run. Attendees can enjoy live DJs, specialty drinks, and themed menu items while floating down the lazy river. elsa hahneTipitina’s is hosting another installment of their popular Free Fridays Concert Series, featuring performances by Soul Project NOLA and Very Cherry. Soul Project NOLA is known for their energetic blend of funk, soul and jazz. Their music is a reflection of New Orleans with a modern twist. Very Cherry brings a fresh, fun vibe to the stage with vibrant beats and catchy tunes, perfect for getting the audience moving. This event starts at 8 p.m. and is part of a summer music series sponsored by Tipitina’s, New Orleans & Company, Crystal Hot Sauce, and Crescent Canna. Sierra Green performs at The Maison Restaurant and Music Club on August 9, starting at 10 p.m. Greene is known for her captivating voice and engaging stage presence, blending elements of jazz, soul and R&B. Her performances are noted for their emotional depth and musical complexity, drawing audiences into her world with every note. With a background in both classical and contemporary music, Greene’s repertoire includes original compositions and unique interpretations of classic songs. jon clearyThe Dew Drop Inn Revival presents Jon Cleary on Friday, August 9. Cleary will bring his unique blend of rhythm and blues to this historic venue. Cleary’s career highlights include collaborations with artists such as Taj Mahal, Dr. John, and Bonnie Raitt. His Grammy-winning album, Go Go Juice combined with his skillful piano playing and soulful vocals have earned him a dedicated following. This solo show promises an intimate experience with doors opening at 7 p.m. and the show starting at 9 p.m. Tickets range from $30 for standing to $40 for seated. On Sunday, August 11, the Steven Lands Quartet performs at Snug Harbor Jazz Bistro. Steve Lands, a trumpeter hailing from Baton Rouge and based in New Orleans, has performed with notable acts such as Preservation Hall Jazz Band, Elvis Costello, and PJ Morton. Lands is known for his virtuosic trumpet playing and his ability to blend traditional jazz elements with contemporary influences. His music is characterized by complex harmonies, innovative rhythms and emotional depth. The quartet will feature Oscar Rossignoli on piano, Max Moran on bass, and Alfred Jordan on drums. On Tuesday,  August 13, Christopher Cross performs at The Fillmore New Orleans at 7 p.m. His music, characterized by its soft rock style and heartfelt lyrics, has earned him numerous awards, including five Grammy Awards. Cross’s live performances are known for their emotional resonance and musical precision. He is best known for his smooth voice and classic hits such as “Sailing” and “Arthur’s Theme (Best That You Can Do).” Fans can expect to hear his greatest hits, as well as selections from his extensive catalog. Also on Tuesday, August 13, Layla Musselwhite and Jimmy Robinson perform at Snug Harbor at 7:30 and 9:30 p.m..  Musselwhite, a New Orleans-based singer and guitarist, will be joined by Robinson, a virtuoso guitarist with over 40 years of experience.  Musselwhite blends traditional blues with modern influences, creating a sound that is both timeless and contemporary. Robinson’s career started out in the late 60s with a psychedelic rock/blues band and has since developed a unique approach to the guitar, blending elements of rock, folk and classical music. Together, Musselwhite and Robinson perform an array of timeless rhythms and melodies.
