On Thursday, August 22, Tipitina’s will host a heartfelt memorial celebration honoring the late Nick Daniels III, a beloved bassist and a towering figure in New Orleans’ music scene. Known for his powerful work with Dumpstaphunk, Daniels’ contributions to the world of funk and soul will be remembered through a special performance by Dumpstaphunk, along with guest appearances by members of Galactic and other local artists. This evening will not only celebrate Daniels’ incredible musical legacy but also his life and spirit, which touched so many. This FREE event offers an opportunity for members of the community to convene and pay tribute to a true New Orleans legend.

Legendary punk band Black Flag will take the stage at Southport Hall on Friday, August 23, to perform songs from their iconic compilation album The First Four Years. This album, which compiles the band’s earliest work from 1978 to 1981, captures the raw energy and rebellious spirit that made Black Flag a defining force in the American hardcore punk movement. Known for their aggressive sound, politically- charged lyrics and pioneering DIY ethic, Black Flag’s influence extends far beyond the punk scene, shaping the ethos of countless bands that followed. The Krewe of OAK’s 37th Mid-Summer Mardi Gras returns to Uptown New Orleans on Saturday, August 24, bringing the lively spirit of Mardi Gras to the summer heat. The parade, themed “Blue Moon Rising,” will kick off at 7 p.m. in front of 8316 Oak Street in front of the Maple Leaf Bar, winding its way through the neighborhood before culminating in a massive block party on the 8400 block of Oak Street at 8:30 p.m. Expect to see colorful dance troupes like the Muff-a-Lottas and members of the Intergalactic Krewe of Chewbacchus, adding their signature flair to the festivities. The parade’s route will take a scenic tour of Carrollton, Zimpel and Cohn, with a spectacle of music, dance and creativity that’s uniquely New Orleans.

On Saturday, August 24th, the House of Blues will host “So Good! The Neil Diamond Experience,” a tribute show by acclaimed actor Robert Neary. This performance is more than just a concert; it’s an immersive journey through Neil Diamond’s legendary career, featuring 22 of his classic hits. This show, featuring a talented cast of musicians, recreates the energy and emotion of a live Neil Diamond performance, complete with all the hits that made him a household name like “Sweet Caroline” and “Cracklin’ Rosie.” Neary, who has earned a nomination for Best Tribute Artist at the Josie Awards, channels Diamond’s spirit with remarkable precision, sharing personal stories that bring the music to life. Also on Saturday, August 24, Tipitina’s will host a special tribute to Earth, Wind & Fire, presented by Raw Deal. This tribute concert will celebrate the iconic sounds of the legendary R&B and funk band, known for hits like “September” and “Boogie Wonderland.” The night will also feature a performance by Delores Galore, a rising star whose retro-inspired sound blends elements of soul, pop and electronic music. On Sunday, August 25, The Fillmore New Orleans will welcome two iconic alternative rock bands, Jane’s Addiction and Love and Rockets, for a night of unforgettable music. Jane’s Addiction, fronted by Perry Farrell, is known for their pioneering role in the alternative rock movement of the late 1980s and early 1990s, with hits like “Jane Says” and “Been Caught Stealing.” Love and Rockets, formed by former members of Bauhaus, brings their unique blend of post-punk and goth rock to the stage, offering a perfect complement to Jane’s Addiction’s raw energy.
