OffBeat Magazine is excited to announce a special New Year’s Eve Celebration at the Joy Theater that we are presenting along with Winter Circle Productions.
The event will feature co-headliners The New Mastersounds and Dumpstaphunk, along with an opening set by Jon Cleary.
The New Mastersounds are a four-piece band based in Leeds, England, whose modern take on vintage soul-jazz, funk, and rock draws influences from Jimmies McGriff, Smith, and Hendrix, as well as their most closely-associated mentors, The Meters. Having toured throughout Europe, Japan, and the USA, The New Mastersounds have earned global recognition as forerunners of the deep funk revival scene.
Dumpstaphunk stands out among New Orleans’ best as one of the funkiest bands to ever arise from the Crescent City. Born on the Jazz & Heritage Festival stage and descended from Neville family bloodlines, these soldiers of funk ignite a deep, gritty groove that dares listeners not to move.
Their performances combine ingenious musicianship and complex funk and jazz arrangements with soulful melodies that are simple enough for anyone to enjoy.
Standing room, general admission, and reserved-seating VIP tickets will be available, as well as Reserved Seating VIP Gold & Platinum Packages.
VIP Gold packages will feature reserved seating in the upper balcony with amazing views of the stage, a select open bar from 9 p.m. 11:30 p.m., access to VIP only bar & VIP only facilities, and a commemorative event poster.
