OffBeat is proud to announce a partnership with New Orleans Vinyl Club. Two NOLA-based businesses are coming together to provide limited edition vinyl variants of local artists. Vinyls from NOLA Vinyl Club are now available in our web store.
Current titles available in the shop include The Iceman Special’s “ Dr. Dude’s Masquerade Parade” (pressed on gorgeous limited edition “Carnaval Splatter” vinyl) and New Orleans Nightcrawlers’ “Atmosphere,” which is pressed on limited edition “purple mist” vinyl. Note: The limited edition pressings are exclusively available via OffBeat’s shop and NOLA Vinyl Club.
Hailing from South Louisiana and stationed in New Orleans, The Iceman Special conjure Psychedelic Funk with a full complement of Rock, Reggae, Funk, 60’s Psychedelia and Modern Zydeco. Genre defying, they bring a special groove to modern day Rock.
The New Orleans Nightcrawlers are the 26-year-old Jazz and Rhythm & Blues outfit founded by pianist Tom McDermott, sousaphonist Matt Perrine, and trumpeter Kevin Clark. In 1996 Perrine told OffBeat, “Brass band music is a minute-by-minute, second-by-second experience…It comes from a space that I really love—it’s a very joyful kind of thing. Yeah, that’s it—that’s what I love about it. I feel very fortunate to be living in New Orleans and to be playing brass band music because of the joyful space that it comes from and its historical significance, and the fact that, in my opinion, it’s going to be reaching a much wider audience as time goes on.”
Perrine certainly wasn’t wrong about that.
