OffBeat Magazine is teaming up with the New Orleans Musicians Clinic & Assistance Foundation (NOMAF) to host a blood drive on Frenchmen Street for the victims of the tragic Mother’s Day second line parade shooting that occurred last Sunday, May 12. After discovering that there is no stand-alone blood donation center in New Orleans at which potential donors can give blood for those in need locally, the NOMAF approached OffBeat to help coordinate a mobile blood donation center in time to help the 19 victims wounded in the shooting. With OffBeat‘s headquarters located on Frenchmen Street, and given the importance of supporting New Orleans’ second line musicians and social aid and pleasure clubs, Frenchmen Street’s position as a music epicenter of the city is an ideal location.
The catch: A minimum of 25 committed blood donors are required by the certified blood donation service provider, Bloodmobile, in order to confirm the mobile unit collection and delivery service for these victims. If you, or someone you know, is willing to donate for this cause please sign up by filling out the simple online form below and submit it by Friday, May 17. Once we reach 25 donors, we will post confirmation information online and via e-mail.
If at least 25 people sign up to donate, the blood drive will be held Wednesday, May 22 from 3:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. on Frenchmen Street in front of the Spotted Cat. Those interested in donating may contact Erica Dudas with the NOMAF at 504-415-3514 or [email protected] for more information about donating blood for the Mother’s Day victims. Questions? [email protected].
THIS SIGN-UP IS NOW CLOSED.
The NOMC is only taking walk-ups at this time.
Please only Email in if you would like info on future blood drives.
Thank You!
*By submitting this form, you commit to donate blood (if approved by the Bloodmobile staff as suitable for donation) for the 19 victims of the New Orleans Mother’s Day second line parade shooting on Wednesday, May 22 between 3pm – 9pm on Frenchmen Street.
