Soul-funk super-quintet The Nth Power recently announced their 17-date tour this spring with Cory Henry & the Funk Apostles.
Cory Henry is a Grammy Award-winning keyboardist best known for his work with Snarky Puppy.
The Funk Apostles is his new side project, and the group will play original material in the style of James Brown and Stevie Wonder.
The Nth Power features features drummer Nikki Glaspie , keyboardist Nigel Hall, guitarist Nick Cassarino, bassist Nate Edgar, and West African percussionist Weedie Braimah.
This “dream team” super group was born out of an impromptu performance at Jazz Fest 2012, and since then, they’ve brought their funky, world-music-influenced grooves to over 80 countries.
They released an independent EP, Basic Minimum Skills Test in 2013, and their first full-length album, Abundance, is slated to be released later this year.
The Nth Power and Cory Henry & The Funk Apostles will take turns headlining the performances.
When the co-headlined tour ends, The Nth Power will continue making the festival rounds, beginning with the Live Oak, Florida’s Wanee Festival in April.
