NORD Announces NOLA Idol Finalist Showcase

The New Orleans Recreation Development (NORD) Commission announced the grand finale of its inaugural NOLA Idol competition, the NOLA Idol Finalist Showcase. This free, family-friendly event will take place on Monday, December 11, at The Fillmore, with doors opening at 7 p.m. and the showcase beginning at 8 p.m.

The showcase celebrates the culmination of a citywide talent search and highlights some of the most remarkable vocalists in New Orleans. Under the guidance of NORD Artist-in-Residence and Grammy Award-winning musician Irvin Mayfield, NOLA Idol has provided a platform for aspiring artists to showcase their talent while engaging the broader community in New Orleans’ storied musical tradition.

The evening will feature stunning performances by the finalists, accompanied by Irvin Mayfield’s world-touring band. Special guest appearances by New Orleans music icons Cyril Neville and David Batiste will add an extra layer of excitement. Hosting the evening is the celebrated radio personality Wild Wayne.

In addition to individual performances, all teen and youth finalists will be honored as Teen Idols in a special group performance. Cash prizes will be awarded to the top three winners, with first, second, and third-place distinctions revealed during the event.

“NOLA Idol is a unique opportunity for the city to directly engage with our incredible communities of talent across the entire city,” said Larry Barabino, Jr., CEO of NORD Commission. “We’ve been working with Mr. Mayfield throughout his residency to develop a program that truly showcases the wealth of creativity we have in New Orleans. This showcase is a celebration of our city’s unmatched talent and community spirit.”
