On Friday, July 5 at 12 p.m., the Hip Hop Caucus and the Beyond Petrochemicals campaign will host “Nola Green: So Fresh, Seaux Clean,” a free community-building event at Headquarters by Nice Guys in New Orleans. This event will feature a power-building conversation on clean air and water with Grammy-winning artist Big Freedia and local climate justice leaders, alongside live music from Ha Sizzle and the Water Seed band, and complimentary food and drinks.
The event celebrates the leadership and creativity of Black women who are at the forefront of stopping petrochemical expansion in frontline communities. With over 120 proposed petrochemical projects in the U.S., these initiatives pose significant threats to the climate and the health of these communities through toxic pollution and greenhouse gas emissions. “Nola Green: So Fresh, Seaux Clean” aims to raise awareness and engage the New Orleans community in the fight against fossil fuel pollution.

Formed in 2004, the Hip Hop Caucus (HHC) is a non-profit, non-partisan organization that leverages Hip Hop culture to encourage young people to participate in the democratic process. HHC addresses core issues affecting underserved communities through solution-driven community organizing led by today’s young leaders.
About Beyond Petrochemicals: Launched by Bloomberg Philanthropies in September 2022, Beyond Petrochemicals: People Over Pollution aims to halt the expansion of petrochemical and plastic pollution in the U.S. The campaign draws on the success of the Beyond Coal and Beyond Carbon campaigns, aiming to block over 120 proposed petrochemical projects and establish stricter rules for existing plants to protect American communities’ health.
