On August 10, the Crescent City officially welcomes a new band to the New Orleans funk brigade. Noisewater is a funk-fusion band that integrates elements of rock, jazz, reggae, metal and psychedelic music to create a unique sound. The band formed in 2010 and has already performed at concerts and festivals throughout the Gulf Coast. Their first album, Noisewater, will be released on August 10 through Louisiana Red Hot Records, the label responsible for Cyril Neville, Dumpstaphunk, The New Orleans Suspects and many more.
Noisewater is an instrumental sextet that includes saxophonist Ole Oddlokken, guitarist Brandon Hotard, bassist John Meunie, Jr., drummer Cody Fahnestock, percussionist Chad Toups and keyboardist Chad Carlile. From Norway to Alabama to New Orleans, the members of Noisewater have a diverse musical background that has contributed to its eclectic range and wide appeal.
Focus tracks on the new album include “Whatcha Know,” “Funk as Prescribed” and “Funkoteque,”—all of which uniquely engage the listener through a mix of musical styles with overtones of New Orleans funk.
Noisewater is already a local favorite at Tipitina’s, for the band’s ability to attract visitors and keep the groove going all night long. A release party for Noisewater will be held at Tip’s at 501 Napoleon Avenue on Saturday, August 11. Tickets are $7.00 in advance and $10.00 at the door.
