The New Orleans Center for Creative Arts will host its annual gala this Saturday. May 21. Billed as ART&SOUL: Home Is Where The Art Is, the gathering will take place at the school’s Chevron Forum and will be co-chaired by NOCCA alumni Calvin Johnson Jr. and Celeste Marshall.
The gala itself will run from 8pm to midnight and will feature performances by current NOCCA students, as well as Sweet Crude frontwoman Alexis Marceaux (also a NOCCA alum). The event will include an open bar, live and silent auctions, and food from restaurants like Bachannal, Frankie Johnny’s, Cochon, Deomenica and Sylvain.
The night will cap off with the annual gala’s first-ever Twilight Party, which will include a performance by Big Sam’s Funky Nation, along with food from Juan’s Flying Burrito, namese, Bao & Noodle and Company Burger, among other establishments.
Additionally, there will be an early Patron Party from 6:30pm to 8pm that will feature music from Calvin Johnson Jr., Roxie le Rogue and current NOCCA Jazz students.
Proceeds from the gala will support financial aid programs, artists residencies and other initiatives that benefit NOCCA, an indispensable public arts high school that has trained new generations of Louisiana artists since 1973.
