NOCCA Foundation’s ART&SOUL Gala Celebrates Young Artists

The NOCCA Foundation, in partnership with the Meraux Foundation, is set to host the ART&SOUL gala on Saturday, May 18, 2024. This annual event, which supports the New Orleans Center for Creative Arts (NOCCA), will feature a variety of performances, culinary experiences, and auction items to benefit the school and its students.

The gala will kick off with a patron party where guests can enjoy music from Tarriona “Tank” Ball and Mark-Anthony Thomas. Following this, the main event will include performances by Gladney and Xavier Reed, as well as the NOCCA Alumni All-Stars. Attendees can expect a night filled with entertainment, provided by current students and accomplished alumni alike.

One of the highlights of the evening will be the culinary offerings, prepared by NOCCA’s Culinary Arts students and faculty. Guests will also have the chance to sample dishes from renowned local chefs and restaurants. Additionally, the ART&SOUL auction will offer a variety of items, including artwork and vacation packages, providing an opportunity to support the school while taking home unique prizes.

Attendees can also participate in interactive activities, such as having their portraits drawn or receiving an improv poem crafted by a NOCCA student. This year’s gala is co-chaired by Marie and James Cahn, Ann and Virgil Duplessis, and Ida and Floyd James, whose efforts have been instrumental in organizing the event.

The ART&SOUL gala celebrates NOCCA’s 50-year legacy of nurturing young artists in Louisiana. The school boasts a distinguished list of alumni, including Jon Batiste, Harry Connick Jr., Wendell Pierce, and Jeanne-Michele Charbonnet, underscoring its reputation for excellence in arts education.
