The New Orleans Ballet Association (NOBA) recently wrapped up its tuition-free Twilight Dance Program. The organization opens registration for the fall 2023 semester of after-school dance classes for youth aged 4 to 18. The NOBA Center for Dance (CFD), in partnership with the New Orleans Recreation Development Commission (NORD), will offer a range of programs to provide dance training in various styles.
The NOBA Center for Dance offers an Early Childhood Program (ages 4-5), Preparatory Program (ages 6-11), and Teen Program (ages 12-18), encompassing ballet, jazz, hip hop, and tap techniques. These classes will be conducted at eight NORD recreation centers, with the semester starting the week of September 11. The semester will conclude with a performance as part of NOBA’s Neighborhood Concert Series. Selected classes will also be able to perform in New Orleans Ballet Association’s annual production of The Nutcracker Suite at Tulane’s Dixon Hall on December 3.
Registration will be on a first-come, first-served basis and will begin on August 19. Families can register online at NOBA’s website, or request in-person registration appointments by calling the NOBA office at 504-522-0996 ext. 207. A registration fee of $20 per class and center will be required.
The NOBA Center for Dance aims to provide structured training for students to progress through various levels. This preparation supports potential dance careers, fosters essential life skills, and services over 30,000 people annually. Students can advance to the Pre-Professional Program, offering training with master artists and performance opportunities.
