Join us in celebrating James Booker’s 75th Birthday at “A Night Of 1,000 Bookers” at the Maple Leaf on Wednesday, December 17, from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m.
There’s no better place to celebrate the life and legacy of the “Bayou Maharajah” than the Maple Leaf, which was home to Booker’s last performance.
The night will feature a series of piano players playing tribute to Booker’s musical genius including Tom McDermott, David Torkanowsky, Ronald Markham, Tom Worrell, CR Gruver, Joe Krown, and Bill Malchow.
OffBeat contributor and WWOZ host David Kunian will be the MC for the event.
James Booker costumes are encouraged, but if you forget to come dressed for the occasion, there will be OffBeat eye patches available for all attendees.
Tickets are $5 and will be available at the door.
