The New Orleans Jazz Celebration organization has announced the cancellation of this Fall’s Nickel-a-Dance series due to safety precautions set forth by Orleans Parish’s response to the coronavirus pandemic.
The free Sunday afternoon jazz concerts were scheduled to take place at Maison on Frenchmen Street beginning in October. According to organizers, the decision to cancel the series is due to “ordinances and safety concerns for the members of the community.” Past performers have included Don Vappie & the Creole Jazz Serenaders, Ernie Elly’s New Orleans Heritage Band, Mark Braud’s Jazz Giants, Orange Kellin’s Deluxe Orchestra and many more.
New Orleans Jazz Celebration said in a statement it hopes to bring the series back in full swing for Spring 2021. For more information, click here.
