New Orleans drummer Joe Dyson has organized the fifth annual Christmas in Treme, a benefit show for New Orleans Holy Faith Temple–aka The Treme Church. The concert will be held in Holy Faith Temple (1325 Governor Nicholls St) at 7pm on Friday, December 16.
Davell Crawford & The Dyson Family, Nicholas Payton, Josh Kagler, Joe Dyson, Max Moran & Neospectric, Joel Dyson, Edward Jackson & Friends, the Holy Faith Temple Choir and more will perform at Christmas in Treme. A donation of $15 is suggested for admission.
Holy Faith Temple offered shelter, food and clothing for its community and the surrounding area in the wake of Hurricane Katrina. The church currently runs a grocery program that provides healthy foods for families in transition at no cost, as well as a hot meal program that provides meals for senior citizens and families that are between jobs. Holy Faith Temple also offers a variety of other social services, including mental health case management and computer literacy classes. All proceeds from Christmas in Treme will go toward funding these programs.
