The Newport Jazz Festival marked its 65th anniversary August 2-4 – and New Orleans musicians figured prominently in the weekend, with pianist Jon Batiste headlining the Friday evening concert at historic Newport Casino, and three other acts on the afternoon schedule at Fort Adams State Park two days later.
