Grammy-Winning Jazz Vocal Ensemble New York Voices To Perform At Loyola University

In celebration of its upcoming 30 year anniversary, Grammy-winning vocal ensemble New York Voices is performing at Loyola University New Orleans’ Louis J. Roussel Hall this month.

The group is taking part in a series at the university aiming to bring some of the top art acts to our region through providing educational and entertaining performances including concerts, guest performers, master classes, jazz, dance, design and art exhibitions, and theater productions in an intimate setting. Alongside Loyola’s own faculty artist and student events, the acclaimed performing arts series has featured artists including: Nadja Salerno-Sonnenberg, Sir James Galway, Wynton Marsalis, Emanuel Ax, Yo-Yo Ma, Alfred Walker, Ellen Taafe Zwilich, the Kronos Quartet, and others.

New York Voices has earned accolades for impeccable harmonies and original arrangements applied to jazz, Brazilian, r&b, classical, and pop music with an expansive discography of eight albums. Among others, the group has worked closely with well known conductors and arrangers such as Don Sebesky, Michael Abene, Keith Lockhart, and Rob Fisher. The Boston Herald has said: “New
York Voices lives up to its reputation as the most exciting vocal ensemble in current jazz. To collect such quality voices in one group is rare enough, yet the real trick of New York Voices is how well they mesh.

The group’s Loyola performance takes place starts at 7:30 p.m. on Friday, September 29. Tickets may be purchased online at presents.loyno.edu, by emailing [email protected], or by calling the box office at (504) 865-2074.
