The New Quorum is launching their artist residency after acquiring a non-profit tax status last June. The program will offer month-long residencies to international musicians and writers in a historic New Orleans house on Esplanade Avenue, starting in January 2016.
The program, named after a 1960s coffee house and artist collective, will provide artists with a space to live, work and interact with the local arts community. It also encourages cultural exchanges between residents and local or regional artists, through musical and literary events.
A monthly public Salon will showcase new work by residents and local collaborators, talks and readings by local artists and writers, workshops, conversations, and culinary events.
The application process for the January 2016 residency has already started and is reserved for musicians. The deadline for sending applications is October 16, 2015.
Artists age 21 and older from anywhere in the world and not currently enrolled in an academic program may apply. Additional residencies will be available in May and August 2016 for musicians and writers.
